Economic realities require Arizona to back down on new anti-immigrant legislation
"The anti immigrant position adopted by the state of Arizona last year has cost between $ 15 and $ 150 million in lost business, while the private sector drove an aggressive campaign to defeat five new anti even more draconian immigration laws in the legislature yesterday.

La postura anti inmigrante que adoptó el estado de Arizona el año pasado le ha costado entre US$15 y 150 millones de dólares en negocios perdidos, razón por la cual el sector privado impulsó una agresiva campaña que ayer logró derrotar en la legislatura cinco nuevas leyes anti inmigrante todavía más draconianas.

El rechazo por el senado de estas medidas se consideró “una capitulación a la presión de ejecutivos de empresas y el reconocimiento de que la postura sobre inmigración había resultado en un enfriamiento de la normalmente robusta industria del turismo y las convenciones”, escribe Richard A. Oppel Jr. en el New York Times.
